This six-week course includes weekly lectures and two field sessions (you may choose any two days of the listed field sessions, preferably two different weekends). The lectures will provide an overview of canyoning, introduce canyon-specific topics and techniques, and prepare students for the class field sessions. An optional, late-summer outing will be offered to course graduates.

The class will focus on local canyoneering in the Pacific NW, but we will touch on some aspects specific to the sandstone canyons of the Colorado Plateau.

The time commitment is moderate.

Activity Notes

We will be operating with COVID-19 protocols. All lectures will be held via Zoom, so you will need to have a laptop, desktop computer, or smartphone to participate. Field sessions will be small group sessions. Please review the schedule carefully before applying.

All students will participate in the lecture. Each student will attend two field sessions - one of the sessions with a #1 and one with a #2.
