Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Youth Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help. Join Mandy Kubisch from Multnomah County Health Department for a free, full day training. This training is catered toward mental health first aid for youth and young people under 25, but much of the content is applicable to working with people of all ages. This training is open to the public, and 10 slots are being held for Mazamas. If you plan to attend, contact molly@mazamas.org to hold your space.
