Great endurance hike begins with the hike in to Ramona Falls, then continuing up the Timberline Trail to the Yocum Ridge junction, climbing through dense forest to a high alpine meadow with unparalleled views of the west side of Mt. Hood. Head around the ridge for a little more climbing to get up even closer to the mountain. Portland Hikers Link

Activity Notes

The climb from Ramona Falls is long and steady, but the reward is a high alpine meadow with unparalleled views of the west side of Mt. Hood, and hopefully some wildflowers still in bloom.

There is a river crossing of the Sandy River, which is usually accomplished via placed logs. While the river should be flowing fairly low this time of year, the crossing proves difficult for some, so those with balance or footing issues may wish to choose another hike.

Hiking poles are helpful with the crossing.

This is a long day, so those that wish to carpool will meet at 6:30 AM at the MMC, or we will meet at 7:45 AM at the trailhead (location in Leader notes below).
