Activity Notes

This will should be a fun, challenging hike. The destination is Jean Lake, a charming little-visited gem accessible via an invisibly posted Forest Service trail accessible from the Gunsight Ridge.

I've gained a little weight over the pandemic so if you have hiked with me before don't expect my previous pace. I expect we will average a bit less than 1.5mph. Let the leisurely pace bring a smile to your face.

The climb to the ridge via Gumjuwac Saddle is steep but in the shade and well-graded. The hike along Gunsight can be hot and exposed. Bring 2L of water and sunscreen. Hiking poles are advised.

There should be copious wildflowers and views of Hood.

We will have lunch at Jean Lake and return the way we came.
