Commonly done during the Basic Climbing Education Program (BCEP), this hike is a good conditioner for climbing Mt. Hood as well as practicing rope team travel and crampon techniques.

Activity Notes

This will be a mock Mount Hood climb and a chance to continue practicing snow climbing techniques.  We will hike from the Timberline Lodge parking lot starting at 4 AM to above the top of the Palmer chair lift to no more than 10,000 ft.  Condition depending we will find a place to practice glissading and self arrest.
