Activity Notes

Best time of year to be on this hike for wildflowers, because of the radiant show of larkspur, delphiniums. We will do the upper portion only as the lower portion is closed for falcon breeding until mid-July. We will stop at all viewpoints, cross under SR 14 through the tunnel, and hike down to the lower overlook of the Columbia, where the creek streams to make the lower falls. There we will turn back, retrace our steps to the Nancy Russell overlook, and stop again for a snack or lunch before returning to the parking area. The pace will vary, depending on the elevation gain and the goal of keeping the group together.
