Activity Notes

April 24th update:  All of the information for tomorrow's practical skills exam is listed in this activity. Those who have not forwarded a note (to Lisa and Duncan only) that you passed the written exam, please do so tonight. We are watching Monday's weather and will update everyone by 11am if we have to switch to the MMC for our test. If you do not hear from us, go to Broughton as planned.

April 20th update:

  • This will be at Broughton Bluff which is located at Lewis and Clark state park in Troutdale.
  • For people coming from Portland:
  • Take I-84 East to exit 18 - Oxbow/Lewis and Clark park. (exit curves around to a stop sign)
  • Go left on Jordan road. There are several signs there, but Jordan road is not labelled.
  • Lewis and Clark park is on your left in about 1/4 mile?
  • Park in the lot.  There is a restroom by the lot.  Please dont leave ANYTHING visible in your car in that parking lot as it has a break-in issue.
  • One of the assistants will meet you in the lot and bring you up to the testing area.
  • Please be ready with your helmet and harness on, personal pro girth hitched to your harness, prussiks and some extra carabiners on your harness. (your normal rock climbing set up)
  • There is poison oak on the sides of the trail so please wear long pants and dont have anything dangling off your pack or harness that can get contaminated.
  • Please be in the lot, done with bio break, harness on and ready to go by 1 PM.
  • There will be an optional, unofficial party after we are done with the testing. (not part of BCEP)
  • Peter and his partner have graciously volunteered to host it at their beautiful home.
  • We will wear masks whenever we are inside their home.  We are planning to have the party outside in the yard.
  • Address is  500 W 34th Street, Vancouver WA 98660.
  • There are dogs in the home and one child may join us?
  • It is going to be a DIY pizza party as discussed at our Monday breakout session.
  • We will each bring one or more toppings to create a custom pizza, bake it, and cut it up so we can all taste it.   (unless you bring anchovies, then you are on your own and have to sit off to the side with the dog)
  • We will take turns being the TTCPM (Team Thunderfoot Chief Pizza Maker)
