Activity Notes

This will be your rock climbing technical skills field session.  ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY FOR GRADUATION.  We will practice rock climbing on slingshot belay (belay from below), rock climbing on belay from above, rappelling, fixed line traversing, vertical line prussiking, and general rock travel techniques.

It is imperative that you bring all of your appropriate safety equipment and climbing gear.  This includes helmet, harness, personal protection leash & locking biner, rappel/belay device and locking biner, autoblock and locking biner, 2 prussiks with locking biner, and appropriate clothing for the weather.  Even though there will be technical rock climbing, rock climbing shoes are not required.  We recommend bringing your alpine climbing boots.

It is common for Horsethief to be rainy in the mornings, but dry off in the afternoons.  It is almost always breezy, so bring plenty of warm clothing.  You must also pack in your own lunch and water.  There is a bathroom at the parking lot.  Parking is limited so we will implement a car shuttle.

There will be an overnight stay at Maryhill State Park Campground and potluck this weekend.
