Helmets are to be worn while in the MMC

Masks are also being worn (except while eating.)

Please bring all gear on the gear list PLUS:

your practice rope 

Any other climbing gear we have been using at our practice sessions

The stiff boots are optional if you want to try climbing in them.  Other options for footwear testing is rock shoes, hiking boots or sneakers.  But no sandals, Tevas or open toe shoes.

The 'backpacks' on the list are so you can practice rappelling with a pack on.

New knots to learn in advance will be the Munter hitch ( can be used if you lose your ATC) and the bowline (Tie a pack onto a rope on rock or in a crevasse)

New skills to review in your textbook will be:

Rock climbing moves/techniques  pages 227-236 and 241-250

Seated Hip Belay page p 183

Belaying off the harness p. 194,  

commands  p. 198-

Extended rappel (demo only) p 214

Rappel techniques  p. 215-220

Belay from above video (add link here) This skill is only for use on snow or low angle climbing, not regular rock climbing.

Potluck snacks/food will be the same type as at MMC session 1.
