Activity Notes
This field session will be our introduction to snow skills. You will learn how to use your ice axe when ascending and descending, self arresting a fall from various fall positions, belaying techniques with your ice axe, crampons use, rappelling, ascending vertical fixed lines, rope team management, setting up and trying into a rope team, glissading techniques, and some other fun skills if you have the time. We will be in the snow all day. You MUST bring all the necessary warm weather clothing to keep yourself warm and dry throughout the day. Please also bring a dry set up clothing to change back into when you are done for the day. Much of your gear can be rented or borrowed so you can try it out before committing to purchase expensive gear (sic. boots, crampons, ice axe). We will discuss this prior to this field session.Registration is Closed
