An alpine scramble route with a relatively long (9 mile) approach hike.

Activity Notes

Summit Chief is one of the high peaks of the Snowqualime Crest subrange,  north of I-90 and Cle Elum lake  in central Washington. It has a forbidding appearance from the west, but a moderate scrambling route can be done from the east. It is next to Chimney Rock to the south and Mts Hinman and Daniel to the north. Summit views are spectacular. Due to the relatively long approach, it is not climbed too often, but the the general area is a popular backpacking destination.
