Opal Creek: Opal Pool and Cedar Flats

7:50 Meet at the Gateway Transit Center. 8:00 Carpool to the trailhead, take a break along the way. 10:30 Arrive at the Opal Creek Trailhead trailhead. 10:35 From the Opal Creek trailhead, hike through old growth forest to the old town of Jawbone Flats. Along the way you will see remnants of past mining activity. From Jawbone Flats, follow the Kopetski Trail to Cedar Flats, passing several emerald pools and a waterfall. On the return by way of lollipop loop, encounter Opal Pool and Opal Pool Falls, before returning to the trailhead along the Little North Santiam River.  3:30 Carpool back to Portland. 6:15 Arrive back at the Gateway Transit Center.
