Activity Notes

The Ape Canyon trail parallels a wide lahar flow through one of the only remaining swaths of old-growth forest on Mt. St. Helens.  Our incline is a gradual 1400 ft, and as we climb we get glimpses of Mt. Adams to the east. Our turnaround point is the junction with the Loowit Trail - we will stop there for lunch and breathtaking views of Adams, Hood and the summit of St. Helens. Sasquatch was sighted here in 1924, so let's keep a lookout!
