Gove Peak is a scrambling peak located in the NW corner of Mt Rainier National Park. It has a 4 mile approach (3 miles on the old Carbon River Road and 1 mile on the Green Lake trail) followed by a 1.5 mile off trail climb through forest to the summit. On a clear day there are nice views of Mt Rainier and the Carbon River Valley from the summit. The major challenge of this scramble is route finding skills.

Activity Notes

This is a one day climb.  We will meet at the Carbon River trail head early Sun May 5th.  Team members may want to leave Portland the evening before and camp / bivy / motel in the vicinity.

Expect the climb to take most of the day and return to Portland late that evening.

Team members should have basic snow skills.   I haven't climbed this peak before, so expect some adventurous route finding.
