This is an C level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. C level hikes are difficult or strenuous hikes with either over 15 miles in distance or over 3,000 feet elevation gain. C level hikes require you to apply; once you apply you will receive an email within a few days letting you know if you have been accepted onto the hike.

Activity Notes

Come along for a snowshoe during peak of the Geminids meteor shower. Views of Mt Hood with the winter night sky. 4.5 miles RT, 500 ft. Drive 180. 

Goal is touring White River Canyon. Exact location finalized based on forecast and conditions two days prior. Required: Snowshoes and headlamp with red option + extra batteries. Sno-park permit required if driving.

Group will be organized in two teams (A & B) for south & north trails from the Sno-Park, following law and spirit of Wilderness.

Note: Trip begins and ends at the trailhead. Meet others at Gateway Transit Center for self-selected carpooling. Mazamas suggested carpool donation is $0.10/mile, or $18 for 180 miles.
