South Sister is the highest of the Three Sisters and is located in Central Oregon. This approach is from Green Lakes, and typically involves an overnight at the lakes. The climb is long, but not technical. Outstanding views from the summit.

Activity Notes

Day 1: We'll approach and climb South Sister via the Green Lakes TH, and camp the night in the summit crater (probably on snow).

Day 2: We'll descend South Sister, and exit to the same trailhead.

Team Selection:

I tend towards selecting a diverse, and gender balanced team. Also, I am prioritizing recent BCEP grads (2018, and 2017), and recent ICS grads (2018).

Skills needed:

  • Good physical fitness
  • Snow camping (no experience needed)
  • Basic rock skills (fixed line usage, rappelling)
