Mazamas — For the Love of Mountains
The East Face route, though seldom climbed, offers a direct line up the aesthetic steep snow above the Whitewater Glacier on the east side of Mt. Jefferson. As this route gets the first sun, be on it early and move fast to avoid softening snow, minimize avalanche risk and decrease rocks bombing you from the North Ridge. Helmets mandatory.

| General Route Info | If you get to the base of the east face on the Whitewater glacier, and see a significant amount of exposed rock, you should not try to east face and go for the standard white water glacier approach. Climbing the east face with exposed visible rock will expose you to a regular bombardment of loose rocks at terminal velocity. |
