Activity Notes
We'll visit two unique gorge viewpoints. Wind Mountain is a short but steep trail to an area of significance to indigenous peoples. 2.5 miles and 1200 feet of elevation gain. A short section is steep and loose enough that a rope hand-line has been put in place.
After a 25-minute drive back towards Portland, we'll hike to the top of Beacon Rock from the Doetsch Day Use Area via the River to Rock trail. About 5 miles with 900 feet of gain. Portions of the trail may be overgrown with blackberry bushes and nettles.
We'll carpool from the MMC departing at 7:30 am or you can meet us at the Wind Mountain trailhead at 8:30. A Washington Discover Pass is needed for parking at the Doetsch Day Use Area.
