Silver Falls State Park is the crown jewel of the Oregon State Parks system, being both Oregon's largest State Park (9,000 acres) and boasting one of America's most impressive waterfall day-hikes. There are no less than ten falls on this 8.7-mile loop (which can be reduced via two cutoff trails), and most of them are flat-out gorgeous. Most folks will handle the rolling elevation, with about 1,300 feet of total accumulation, in three to five hours. Unless it's a foul-weather day in the middle of a week in winter, count on seeing plenty of other visitors on the trail.

Activity Notes

Join us for a hike at the Trail of Ten Falls in SIlver Falls state park. This is  a spectacular, nationally recognized hiking trail that weaves through a dense forested landscape. The trail passes a series of breathtaking waterfalls along a rocky canyon, and descends to a winding creek at the forest floor. This 7.2 mile loop is considered to be a moderate hike, with an overall elevation change of 800 feet. Fall colors should be appearing this time of year. We will have a comfortable 1.5  pace with many opportunities for photos.  Total time hiking should be about 5 hours, with a short lunch stop along the way.

We will meet at the MMC Parking lot on Wednesday October 14 at 9AM.  We will arrange carpools from there. Drive time is 80 minutes and 57 miles each way,
