Fall colors are popping in Indian Heaven.

This will be a lollipop hike through the heart of the Indian Heaven Wilderness. We will begin at the Thomas Lake Trailhead and will hike past several lakes. The mileage and elevation gain will vary depending on the conditions and the group, between 10 and 14 miles and 1200' and 1500' elevation gain. Sections of the trails will be unmaintained, overgrown and faint. 

Given the length of the drive (about 2 hours each way), we'll get an early start, departing from the MMC at 6 am. We'll aim to be back by 5 pm. 

A high-clearance vehicle is recommended for getting to the trailhead. A $5 day use fee, NW Forest Pass or America the Beautiful Pass is required for parking. 

This will be my first time hiking these trails which in Mazamas parlance makes this an "exploratory" hike.
