Activity Notes
This is a provisional hike for Michael Nomina to become a Mazamas hike leader.
We will start at the Vietnam Veterans of Oregon Memorial, in Washington Park, where the Wildwood Trail begins nearby. We will begin our hike here and go to the 5-mile point on the trail where it intersects at Upper Macleay Park, near the Bird Alliance of Oregon (formerly the Audubon Society of Portland). We will have a 15 to 20 break for snacks and bathroom break there, before turning around and hiking back to the beginning of the trail. There are several restrooms along the way, including at the Archery Range, Pittock Mansion, and Upper Macleay Park. The hike is accessible by bus (e.g. lines 63, 287, 288), MAX (both Red and Blue lines) or car. There is parking available across from the trail head and other lots nearby. The elevation gain/loss is approximately 1540 ft, which along with the distance makes this a B level hike. The pace will be moderate, Level 2 pace, of 2 to 2.5 mph.
