Activity Notes
A brisk afternoon hike to Ramona Falls. The falls are a beautiful broad cascade over blocky basalt, giving the falls a unique appearance compared to waterfalls in the Gorge.
We'll carpool from the MMC at 2 p.m. and reach the trailhead at 3:15 p.m. Parking at the trailhead requires a NW Forest Pass or $5 fee.
We'll be aiming to complete the hike in 3 hours, including breaks. This means we'll be moving at roughly 2.5 mph on average and maintaining a brisk pace both uphill and downhill. The trail is mostly a gentle grade, gradually gaining about 1100' over 3.7 miles. The hike will involve crossing the Sandy River. This year there is a log bridge composed of two narrow trunks lashed together; trekking poles can be very helpful for balance on the crossing.
