Activity Notes

ACTIVITY NOTES   (visible to public)

This is a multi-pitch climb in a pretty location.  This gets updated at we get closer to the climb so please check back here frequently.

Rock shoes are strongly recommended but not required if the participant really prefers to use approach shoes. We will carpool to the trailhead (assuming you feel comfortable doing that)  from Fred Meyer.

Please please let the leaders know if you are meeting at the traihead, or meeting at the carpool in Tualatin. Carpool spreadsheet link will be in the leader notes.

At the Santiam pinnacle trailhead parking lot we will divide up the ropes and gear and do a short hike to the start of the climb.  It has three pitches of rock to a small summit. We will rappel to a midpoint, then a second rappel to the forest floor, hike out and drive home the same day.

Carpool location:   Fred Meyer in Tualatin.  Leave carpool at 7:45 AM .

Suggestions : Have 1-2 extra liters of water in the car to drink before and after the climb in addition to the water you carry up. A small 'summit' type pack is suggested to wear while you are climbing.  It should be able to carry your rappelling gloves (optional), water bottles, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunblock etc), warm layers (depending on the weather), lip balm, snacks, phone (phone is optional, and a leash on it is a good idea), any meds you need or might need, your and personal first aid kit.

Expect not to have cell service at the TH.  "Bathrooms' are a tree if its liquid waste, and a bluebag (if its solid waste) which you will supply for yourself and dispose of after the climb.

End time is listed as 6 PM but may be earlier depending on speed of team. Feel free contact the leader with questions (there are no 'dumb questions')
