Activity Notes
This is mostly an out and back hike on the PCT from Lolo Pass to the cutoff trail down to Lost Lake, then around Lost Lake and back.
This will be about 16 miles and 2300+ elev. gain.
if we have the time and are feeling frisky, we will tack on the hike up Lost Lake Butte, which would bring the total to about 19 miles and 3200+ elev. gain.
Bring your bathing suit and ice cream money, as the plan is to take a swim and stop for a snack at the Lost Lake Resort.
Highlights of this hike are brisk hiking on the well-graded PCT, old growth forest around Lost Lake, and lakeviews of Mt. Hood.
We will meet at the MMC at 6:30 AM, organize carpools, and begin hiking around 8:00 AM. Due to the length of the hike and the planned swim at Lost Lake, this hike will take all day.
Round trip mileage will be about 105 miles, so passengers should reimburse their driver as follows:
1 passenger: $21
2 passengers: $14 each
3 passengers: $10 each
Weather and air quality will be monitored in the days prior to the hike, and participants will be briefed on conditions 36-48 hours prior. Obviously, if the air quality or weather is unsafe for this hike, it will be cancelled.
