Activity Notes
Join me on a Sunday hike through a very interesting volcanic landscape with great views of Mount St Helens. We'll hike through the hummocks and up a ridge to the still closed Johnston Ridge Observatory.
The hike is approximately 10.5 miles and 1900 ft elevation gain. It's an out and back with a small loop around the hummocks. A majority of the hike is in the sun and on trails with sandy, loose tread since this is in the blast zone. A detailed description of the hike can be found on Oregon Hikers.
The drive is just under 2 hrs each way and carpooling is recommended. We can coordinate a carpool from the MMC and/or Salmon Creek Park & Ride in Vancouver.
*If air quality is unhealthy, I'll try to offer an alternative hike option with good AQI (e.g. coast) or will reschedule.
