Activity Notes
Three day climb of Mount Stuart’s West Ridge.
Day 1: Drive 5.5 hours to trailhead. Hike up and over Long’s Pass and down to a camp by Ingalls Creek at the base of the Cascadian Couloir.
Day 2: Alpine start. Hike along the creek to the base of a white granite gully. Start the route with a long scramble and then navigate various terrain challenges to a series of mid-5th class pitches to the summit. Descend the Cascadian Couloir to camp. Nice thing here is a long day ends at our tents.
Day 3: Rise early, pack up and hike back over Longs Pass and down to cars. Drive home.
Neither the leader nor the assistant has done this route before. We’re looking for two strong team members willing to invest in route study and climb prep but be tolerate of some navigational challenges along the way. *Must lead belay. We will climb the 5th class pitches in teams of two. We hope the weather will afford us an opportunity to go light and fast. This will be a long day of scrambling and 5th class climbing!
