Activity Notes

Come exploring with me! This is an exploratory hike, meaning that I have not done this hike before. While this is on established trails and I will do my research beforehand, there may be unexpected encounters with light route-finding/scrambling, etc. Please have an open mind and be excited for adventure!

Out-and-back in the Mt. Washington Wilderness to the summit of Belknap and Little Belknap Crater.

This hike will pass through rocky lava fields and will be almost entirely exposed to the sun at high altitude. But the hike will feature some small caves that we can explore on Little Belknap Crater, and (weather dependent) some front-row views of Mt. Washington!

Carpool from Clackamas Town Center at 6:45AM or you can meet us at McKenzie Pass TH at 10:15AM. NWFP required. Suggested gas contribution for this long drive is $35/passenger.

Group size will depend on how many day-use permits I am able to secure. Alternate dates of 7/31 or 8/2 will be considered.

7 miles, 1900' gain, 6800' high point

***Life is stressful, especially for minorities and marginalized people. But there's lots of studies showing that spending time outside with good company is good for the body and the mind! Therefore, I invite everyone to join me on my hikes!
