Bridal Veil Creek Canyon Route

Bridal Veil Creek is a classic Columbia Gorge canyon with a short approach, creek travel, bushwhacking, cold water, slippery basalt, and several rappels in a flowing-water environment. Students should expect a full canyon day with wet rappels, scrambling, pool crossings, uneven creek walking, and possible poison oak on the approach or exit.

Participants should be comfortable moving in water, managing personal warmth, following rope instructions, and staying focused around exposed rappel stations and moving water. Bring a wetsuit appropriate for Gorge water, canyon shoes, helmet, harness, rappel device, personal tether system, whistle, food, water, and a dry layer for after the canyon.

The route may include up to four technical rappels, with the longest rappel around 100 feet. Flow can change the difficulty significantly. The leader will assess conditions before and during the outing and may modify the route, skip features, or turn the team around if conditions are not appropriate for a student trip.

Participants should also be prepared for a bushwack exit and must stay with the group. We will respect land-manager concerns and avoid the lower public waterfall section.
