Hike the Mazama Trail to the Timberline Trail and then hike the Eden Park loop. Visit Cairn Basin and ford Ladd Creek twice. Abundant flowers in mid to late summer. Important: Drive to the trailhead via Hood River to avoid very rough roads.
Activity Notes
Spend the day before the World Cup Final hiking the one trail on Mount Hood that is perpetually maintained by Mazamas. When we reach the Timberline Trail, we will turn left, hiking the Eden Park Loop. Eventually, we will come back the way we came, as in we'll be doing a potentially flower-filled lollipop hike. Weather permitting, there will be views of the north side of Mt Hood. Don't bring any more than 2 liters of water, as we can filter more out of Glisan or Ladd creeks. Our expected stats are 11.7 miles and 3,000' of gain.
We will leave Clackamas Town Center's parking garage at 07:30 and make a restroom stop at the Sandy Fred Meyer (there are no restrooms at our trailhead), arriving at the Mazama Trail shortly after 09:00. You can view our driving route at https://maps.app.goo.gl/PginEKwhtaiWg4fo9.
