Activity Notes
An energetic hike to the dramatic Indian Point. We'll ascend via the Nick Eaton Trail and descend via the Gorton Creek Trail. Hikers will be welcome to walk the ridge of Indian Point if they should so desire; be aware that this ridge has uneven footing and is very exposed. The loop is slightly longer than 8 miles with about 3000' of gain. We will maintain a pace slightly faster than 2 mph up Nick Eaton (which gets quite steep in its second half) and maintain a pace closer to 2.5 mph on the way down Gorton Creek, aiming to complete this hike in 4 hours or less.
We'll carpool from the MMC at 2 PM and arrive at the Herman Creek Trailhead at 2:45 PM. Parking at the trailhead requires a NW Forest Pass or equivalent, or payment of a parking fee.
