Activity Notes
Spend 5 days and 4 nights hiking and climbing in the jaw-dropping, gobsmacking Wallowa Mountains. Rather than taking the standard out and back approach along the East Fork of the Lostine river we will hike the East Eagle-Imnaha loop* that highlights more and varied places in the Wallowas. Including the excursion to the summit of Eagle Cap the completed route is 46 miles with a total of 10,400 ft. of elevation gain.
* For details see “Backpacking Oregon: From Rugged Coastline to Mountain Meadow” by Douglas Lorain, 2007.
* The same basic route can be found on AllTrails: Eagle Cap Loop via East Eagle, South Fork Imnaha, and Keetle Creek
