The hike to stone shelter at McNeil Point follows the Top Spur trail to the PCT, then to the Timberline Trail, and finally the McNeil Point Trail. Along the way you will pass through old growth forests, have spectacular views of Mount Hood, cross some beautiful creeks, and in mid summer, see plenty of wildflowers. Activity Notes

Sunrise hike to Mcneil Point (or however far conditions allow), starting at the top spur trailhead at 4:30 AM. Note, the date is weather dependent, since I am heavily motivated by the views rather than the conditioning potential of this hike. I will keep an eye on trip reports, but so far microspikes and gaitors highly recommended. Headlamp or flashlight is mandatory.
