Activity Notes
This hike covers 9 miles and gains about 3200 feet of elevation. The trail starts off steeply, rising 2000 feet over 1.9 miles, and ends at a rocky promontory overlooking the Salmon River Valley. Reaching the viewpoint requires crossing on a "catwalk" and doing a couple small scrambles.
We'll carpool from the MMC departing at 7:30 am or you can meet us at the Zigzag Ranger Station at 8:30.
I have not done this hike before which in Mazamas parlance makes it an "exploratory" hike.
