Activity Notes
Strawberry mountain is located southeast of John Day, Oregon, and is the highest point (9035 feet) of the Strawberry Mountain Wilderness in the Blue Mountains.
This trip involves a short backpack to an alpine lake on Saturday afternoon following a 5 hour drive from Portland. Sunday morning we will ascend 5-miles and 3,000 feet to the final the non technical summit scramble. Return to the lake and spend a second night. Monday we hike out and drive home.
This is a moderately paced trip and suitable for new climbers.
