Camp Muir is the highest one can go in Mt. Rainier National Park without a climbing permit. From here one can get a close up view of mountain features that normally require roping up for glacier travel. This starts at Paradise and ends at the stone structures that make up this camp. Do not under estimate this activity. Good endurance, navigation skills, and preparation are a necessity for this outing.

Activity Notes

The idea is to meet a Paradise (5420 feet) on Saturday at 7am. We would then hike up Skyline Trail and the Muir Snowfield to Camp Muir (10100 feet). Round trip is about 9 miles and 4680 feet of elevation gain. Most likely all, if not most, of the route will be covered by snow.

My goal is to assemble an engaged team that is based on respect, communication, and situational awareness. I strive to build a culture of safety, enjoy the wonder of the outdoors, keep my mind open to learning, and enjoy the company of fellow climbers. Everyone has something to contribute this climb. Please come prepared to be a engaged team member.

I plan to make decisions on this team by mid-May.
