Activity Notes
Keith Daellenbach will share a family adventure to Morocco and Spain in 2023 including visiting imperial capital cities of Morocco (Meknes, Fez, Marrakech), an overnight trek into the Sahara Desert on camels, and climbing Toubkal (13,672 feet), the highest mountain in North Africa’s High Atlas Mountains. He will share his family’s experience interacting with Moroccan people and their language, Islamic faith, food, culture, geography, and history of ruling dynasties and indigenous Amazigh (Berber) people.
From there, Keith’s family traveled to Spain, including the Andalusian region of southern Spain ruled by the Muslim Moors from North Africa’s Maghreb for over 700 years leaving an amazing history of cross-religious and cultural influence on the Iberian Peninsula once again dominated by Christianity.
