Silver Falls State Park is the crown jewel of the Oregon State Parks system, being both Oregon's largest State Park (9,000 acres) and boasting one of America's most impressive waterfall day-hikes. There are no less than ten falls on this 8.7-mile loop (which can be reduced via two cutoff trails), and most of them are flat-out gorgeous. Most folks will handle the rolling elevation, with about 1,300 feet of total accumulation, in three to five hours. Unless it's a foul-weather day in the middle of a week in winter, count on seeing plenty of other visitors on the trail.

The Trail of Ten Falls is iconic, but because of a winter 2026 trail closure affecting North Falls and Upper North Falls, we'll only be visiting eight of them, starting and ending from the North Canyon Trailhead.

Between falls 7 and 8, we'll enjoy our early lunches (or purchase them) at South Falls Lodge and then hike the Rim Trail to Winter Falls, the Winter Falls Trail back down to the Canyon Trail, and the Twin Falls Trail back to our trailhead. The Twin Falls has a steep section that will be down on our way there and up on our way back. Our expected stats are 7.5 miles and 950' of loss then gain. 

Our meeting location is the Tualatin Park & Ride at Bridgeport Village. The time of 07:15 was chosen in case anyone chooses to arrive by bus 76.
