Activity Notes

Oregon’s hiking guru takes us on an illustrated tour of the new and changed hiking destinations he discovered while researching his latest guide, “50 Hikes: Portland.” Expect news about wildflower hikes, changes at local parks, and trails that are recovering from fire, as well as anecdotes about history, geology, and more.

Also this spring, Sullivan has published a completely revised full-color version of his popular “100 Hikes: Northwest Oregon,” the go-to reference for avid Portland-area hikers.

A fifth-generation Oregonian, Sullivan has written two dozen books about the Northwest, including “Exploring Oregon’s History,” “Oregon Favorites,“ and “The Case of D.B. Cooper’s Parachute” The journal of his 1000-mile hike across Oregon, “Listening for Coyote,” was chosen by the Oregon Cultural Heritage Commission as one of Oregon’s “100 Books,” the most significant books in the state’s history.
