Activity Notes
This presentation traces a 260-mile journey across the Pamir Mountains of Tajikistan, where altitude, remoteness, and scale quickly recalibrate expectations. Moving through high passes, broad plateaus, and long valleys, David shows what travel here is really like: thin air, rough roads, border regions, cultural nuance, and constant practical decisions made far from easy exits. Along the way, encounters with Pamiri communities reveal resilience, generosity, and daily life shaped by mountains. The talk also acknowledges quieter challenges: fatigue, tension, miscommunication, and the mental weight that can build over weeks, asking what it really takes to move through the Roof of the World well.
