Activity Notes

This is a mellow, low elevation hike along the lower Lewis River, outside of Battle Ground, WA.

The level trail  passes some beautiful cascades and short falls, crosses a high bridge over an impressive gorge, and finishes at a mostly-abandoned rail station for the now-defunct Chelatchie Prairie Railroad.

The trail is partially paved and traverses a non-wilderness landscape of exurban development, but the beauty of the riverside environment makes up for it.

We will meet at 8:30 AM at the MMC (located HERE) to organize carpools to the trailhead (located HERE), and plan to have lunch on the hike and return to the MMC by 3 PM.

This is an exploratory hike for the leader, meaning I have not hiked this trail before, although I have visited the swimming holes below the falls on hot summer days.

The hike is approx. 6 miles, and the elevation gain is less than 500'.

We will reschedule or cancel if the weather is particularly unpleasant.
