Commonly done during the Basic Climbing Education Program (BCEP), this hike is a good conditioner for climbing Mt. Hood as well as practicing rope team travel and crampon techniques.

For the love of mountains!

Conditioning hike / snowshoe /microspike to Palmer. (Weather dependent.) 

If you're curious about summiting Hood someday, these conditioners are a good place to check out the first half of a summit, test gear, and meet other people who love this mountain. 

PLEASE make sure you have signed and printed out the new Mt. Hood uphill travel waiver online before this event:

You'll need a copy of it with you on the mountain. 

Conditioning hike from Timberline Lodge toward Palmer:

We'll meet in the Wy-East Lodge at 6:45am . Park in the Overflow parking lot which is the first parking lot on the right as you're coming up the one way to Mt. Hood. Please bring snowshoes and spikes. (please note that NO crampons or ice axes are allowed on Mazama Hike Conditioners.) 

The length of these conditioners will depend on the group and the weather but we will aim for Palmer. 

Sno park permits are required to park in all Timberline lots between November and April.
