Activity Notes
This is your indoor practice session to really give those technical rock climbing skills a tryout. You will be introduced and trained to rappel, belay a climber from the ground, climb to the top of a route whilst being belayed, use your 2 prussiks for vertical line ascension, fixed line travel, and running belays. This is a vitally important training session to prepare you for outdoor rock climbing. Since it is indoors, you only need your technical climbing gear and helmet. Rock shoes are welcome, although we do recommend trying to climb some of these routes while wearing your normal hiking boots to give you that alpine experience.
We will also setup a potluck. Please plan to bring a dish to share with the group. We are the last climbers of the night so we can and will stay later than the scheduled time if desired by any students. We will also cut you prussiks to proper length, and also teach you to tie a Purcell Prussik as a secondary adjustable personal protective leash.
