This is an A level Mazama Hike that occurs in a non-wilderness area. A level hikes are easy or less strenuous hikes with less than 8 miles in distance and less than 1,500 feet of elevation gain.

Activity Notes
This is the second of 4 hikes located in parks in and around the Portland Metro area.

November 4th: Chehalem Ridge Nature Park
November 25th: Milo McIver State Park
December 9th: Furthest Reaches of Forest Park
The first two hikes will be walked at a moderate pace ( ~2 mph), the last two will be walked at an approximate 3 mph pace.
November 20th is a free parking day at Oxbow, so the usual $5 parking fee is waived.
We will explore the old-growth forest and the vibrant riverside environment of Oxbow Regional Park on the Sandy River. We will meet at the MMC ( LOCATED HERE ) at 8:30 AM, and carpool to the parking area of the Alder Picnic Shelter ( LOCATED HERE ). We will begin hiking at 9:20 AM, and finish around 12;30 PM. We will have lunch at one of the picnic shelters or, if the weather is good, down on banks of the river. The overall hike will be approximately 6-7 miles, with roughly 800" of elevation gain. The pace will be around 2 miles per hour. November 20 is a free parking day for Metro Regional Parks, so no parking fee or pass is required.
