Activity Notes

Previously scheduled for October 12th.  And October 19th.   And October 26th  Rescheduled due to weather.

Hike to East Zig Zag Mountain, surrounded by tall trees, a nearby creek, a remote forest lake and weather permitting, amazing views of Mt. Hood and other, more distant, mountains.

9.6 miles, 2200 feet of elevation gain (Grade B)

The hike will take you into the Mt. Hood wilderness with a forest full of moss, ferns and crystal-clear streams.  We’ll skirt the side of Burnt Lake before ascending the top of East Zigzag Mountain.  We’ll return the way we came.

We’ll carpool from the Gateway Park and Ride, meet at 7:45 am, departing at 8 am.  Or, alternately, meet at the trail head at 9:15 am.  Expect to return to the Pak and Ride by 4 pm.

Note: the road to the trailhead has some rough spots.  The paved section has some very severe potholes.

Driving Distance from Gateway Park and Ride: 48 miles each way. (~1 hour 15 minutes)
