Commonly done during the Basic Climbing Education Program (BCEP), this hike is a good conditioner for climbing Mt. Hood as well as practicing rope team travel and crampon techniques.

Activity Notes

Hello All,

https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/oregon/timberline-lodge-to-palmer-glacier-via-the-climbers-trail

I just did this couple weeks back with friends it was just gorgeous. We went up to Palmer Ski lift point (8450 feet) and then went up another 200 feet or so. By then one of the team member had slight altitude sickness hence we came back. My hope is to just cross 9000 feet. Safety is our first concern, we will go up to a point where it is safe and then return. As usual we will do it very slowly. It is a plain hike all the way to the Palmer Ski point no need for any snow equipment. It will be quite chilly at 8000+ feet.  What to bring:

Jacket, sun screen, sun glasses, hat, hiking pole, head lamp, water, food etc ....

Chocolate is a good for high altitude climbs and ChatGPT agrees. At Machu Pichu we used Cocoa and it really helped us at 14000+ feet levels.

We will constantly monitor the weather and might call off if it is dangerous.

Cheers
