Devil's Rest (via Palmer Mill Road)

Hike to Devel’s Rest from the South West side, starting at Palmer Mill Road near Bridal Veil Creek.

8.15 miles, 1650 feet of elevation gain (Grade B)

The route follows the old Palmer Mill Road along Bridal Veil creek.  At the roads end, the trail briefly fades away and is re-established about 600 feet further upstream, continuing along the creek.  The route will join NF 129 before taking a short connector over to the Devel’s Rest Trail #420C, and gradually making the way to Devil’s Rest.  We’ll loop back to our starting point along the appropriately named Oil Pan/ Vacuum Cleaner Trail.

Note: This route includes about 600 feet of off-trail travel and a further, ½ mile of primitive trail with an occasional log to step over.    

These are seldom travelled trails and allow for a nice viewing of the wild areas and forests around Devil’s rest.  

Pace: Level 2 (2 to 2.5 mph) moderate pace, with time for breaks and enjoying the scenery.

We’ll carpool from MMC, meet at 7:45 am, departing at 8 am.  Or, alternately, meet at the trail head at 8:40 am.  Expect to return to the MMC by 3 pm.
