Activity Notes

As a physical therapist, mountaineer, and founder of The Embodied Intelligence Method™, I help outdoor athletes like you move smarter, recover faster, and stay connected to your body’s signals—especially when the stakes are high on the mountain.

In my work with climbers, trail runners, and mountain guides, I see the same patterns: pushing through fatigue or injury until it becomes a bigger problem. My approach is different. Embodied Intelligence combines movement science, nervous system regulation, and functional recovery tools so you can train hard without burning out or breaking down.

In this presentation, you'll learn:

 • How to recognize early signs of overtraining and injury before they take you out of action
 • Nervous system-based techniques for faster recovery post-climb or expedition
 • Movement strategies that improve endurance while protecting joints and connective tissue
 • Breathwork and somatic tools to stay steady under stress—on and off the mountain

Why This Matters:
Whether you’re climbing at altitude, pushing long days, or training for your next summit, understanding your body’s signals is key to long-term performance and injury prevention. This isn’t about slowing down—it’s about learning how to go further, with more awareness, strength, and resilience.

About Valerie:
Valerie Brown is a licensed physical therapist, yoga therapist, and mountaineer with expertise in trauma-informed care, functional movement, and integrative recovery. She created The Embodied Intelligence Method™ to help outdoor athletes and healthcare practitioners blend science, somatics, and sport for sustainable performance and whole-person health.
