Middle Sister, North Ridge Scramble

Activity Notes

This is planned as a one day scramble climb up Middle Sister starting from the Pole Creek Trailhead. The pace is going to be FAST! Please only apply if you are in great shape, i.e. can handle 3+ mph on the hike in w/2k gain, and 2 mph in the scramble terrain w/3k gain, 18 miles round trip and 5.5k feet of gain. I suspect our moving time will be around 9-10 hours plus breaks could be a 12 hour day.

While we will be near the Hayden Glacier, the intent of this climb is to follow the trail to the saddle with North Sister and around Prouty Point to the west to avoid the glacier and keep this mostly as a rock scramble, with little non-technical snow crossing. Our packs should be light with little technical gear (helmets and micro spikes). We will plan to filter water half way up and down to save some weight too and keep us moving well.
