Activity Notes
I have not done this hike before which in Mazamas parlance makes it an "exploratory" hike.
We'll start at the Top Spur trailhead and make our way up to McNeil Point via the climbers trail which has sections with loose scree. It requires some light scrambling where you may need to use your hands. From there we'll head up to Ho Rock, ascending about 1000 feet over 0.7 mile. After returning to McNeil Point, we'll descend on the longer, gentler McNeil Point trail.
Totals for the hike are about 10 miles and 3500 feet of elevation gain.
We'll carpool from the MMC departing at 7:00 am, or you can meet us at the trailhead at 8:30.
From the Forest Service: "Summer 2025: Due to a delay in contracting, this site does not have a toilet and other services are limited. No day use fee payment is required until further notice. Please pack out all trash you've packed in."
