Activity Notes
This 12 mile lollipop loop, in the Roaring River Wilderness in the Clackamas watershed, provides some steady climbs between several large wilderness lakes.
We will break for cooling swims at Serene and Shellrock Lakes.
Expect some bugs and downed trees, as these trails have probably gotten little traffic or maintenance after the Beachie Creek/Lionshead/Riverside fires of 2020. The land and lakes we'll visit escaped the fires, but the access roads have been closed until recently.
It is a fairly long drive, and the dirt road into the campground gets a little rough at the end, but it is passable.
Pack your lunch, 2+ liters of water (or a filter or other method of purifying water), and your swimsuit, and let's go explore this beautiful area!
We will meet at the MMC at 7 AM, and arrive at the trailhead (the Hideaway Lake campground, located HERE) around 8:45.
